Estimates that turn into invoices without retyping

Price the work, share the estimate, and when your customer says yes, convert it into an invoice. The customer, items and tax carry over.

Free to use. No card needed.

Illustration with sample data.

How it works

  1. 1

    Write the estimate

It uses the same quick form as an invoice, including saved items. Add an expiry date if you want one.

  2. 2

    Share it and track it

Mark it shared, then accepted or declined as your customer replies.

  3. 3

    Convert it

Once it is accepted, one click creates an invoice draft with the same customer, items and tax, copied exactly as quoted.

What you get

Numbered automatically
Estimates are numbered in order, EST-00001 onwards, so you can always find one.
Expiry dates
An estimate past its expiry date can still be declined but can no longer be accepted.
Edit until you share
Drafts can be changed freely. Once an estimate has been shared it is locked, so what the customer saw is what you recorded.
Kept out of your books
An estimate is a proposal, not income. Nothing is recorded in your accounts until you convert it and issue the invoice.
Proforma invoices too
For a customer whose finance office, bank or clearing agent needs a priced document before they can pay, create a proforma invoice. It is numbered separately, PRO-00001 onwards, says “Proforma invoice” on the PDF, and is still not a sale.

Common questions

What is the difference between an estimate and an invoice?

An estimate is a price you propose before the work. An invoice is a request for payment for work done or goods supplied. See our guide on invoices, estimates and receipts for more.

Can I edit an estimate after sharing it?

No. Only drafts can be edited. If the price changes, create a new estimate.

Does an estimate affect my accounts?

No. Only the invoice you create from it is recorded.

Can I send a proforma invoice?

Yes. Create it from Proforma invoices, with its own numbering and wording. Like an estimate it is not recorded in your accounts; convert it to an invoice when the sale is agreed.
