A register of what you own, written down each month
Record an asset once with its cost, life and category. KudiBooks works out each month’s depreciation, posts it when you approve the run, and keeps the book value up to date.
Free to use. No card needed.

How it works
- 1
Add the asset
Cost, purchase date, category, useful life and any residual value.
- 2
Run depreciation
Each month, prepare the run, look at the charge for every asset, and post it.
- 3
Dispose when you sell
Record the sale or scrapping. The gain or loss is worked out against the book value.
What you get
- Categories with defaults
- Set the method and life once for a category such as vehicles or computers, and new assets start from it.
- Straight line and reducing balance
- Both methods are available, and an asset stops depreciating exactly at its residual value.
- Depreciation runs
- A run covers a month for all assets and posts one balanced entry per run. It respects closed periods.
- Disposals
- Sell or scrap an asset and the gain or loss is posted for you. A disposal can be set to need approval.
- Impairment, improvements and transfers
- Write an asset down, add the cost of an improvement, or move it to another location or department, each with its own record.
- Checking they exist
- Mark assets as seen and checked on a date, and list the ones nobody has checked lately.
- Asset roll-forward report
- Opening cost, additions, disposals, depreciation and closing book value by category.
Common questions
Does it revalue assets?
Not yet. Assets are carried at cost less depreciation and impairment. Revaluation upwards is not built.
Can I add an asset from a bill?
You record the asset on the register. Its purchase is entered as a bill or journal in the usual way.
